Community alum Yvette Nicole Brown cannot believe notorious reality TV villain Spencer Pratt could pull ahead in the Los Angeles race for mayor.
āThis nation is unserious and has learned nothing. š,ā Brown, 54, wrote via Threads on Friday, April 24, seemingly referring to President Donald Trump, a former reality TV star-turned-politician. Brown also reposted Peopleās report that Pratt, 42, has raised more campaign funds than incumbent Karen Bass.
According to the outlet, Prattās campaign records indicate that he has raised $539,616.85 since January. Bass, 72, raised $494,734.76 in that time.
Pratt, noted for his aughts-era appearance on The Hills, surprised fans in January when he announced his bid to be the next L.A. mayor.

āThe system in Los Angeles isnāt struggling, itās fundamentally broken,ā Pratt said during the āThey Let Us Burnā demonstration at the time. āIt is a machine designed to protect the people at the top and the friends they exchange favors with while the rest of us drown in toxic smoke and ash. Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles, and Iām done waiting for someone to take real action.ā
Pratt turned to politics after he and his wife, Heidi Montag, lost their home in the devastating wildfires across L.A. in January 2025 and faced setbacks from the government while trying to rebuild.

āThe only way I see God letting my parentsā house burn down and my house burn down is that God knows itās the only way to turn me against a system that lets this happen to tens of thousands of people,ā Pratt exclusively said in his Us Weekly cover story published in January. āIn a best-case scenario, I would have helped at least 10,000 people to get 70 percent of what they got taken from them. That would be poetic.ā
According to Pratt, he hopes that winning the mayoral race will bring change and ājusticeā to residents.
āThe ending that I am hoping for is justice for the people of Los Angeles. Itās the same reason why we filed the lawsuit ā to get to the truth,ā he told Us. āWinning the mayorās race will be a victory for truth and transparency, which is what Iāve been fighting for this whole year. The end goal is the same: to shine a light into the darkness.ā

Pratt has since inched ahead in the electoral race, even earning endorsements from his former Hills costars.
āI think Spencer running for mayor is f***ing genius,ā Kristin Cavallari, who resides in Nashville and is ineligible to vote in the election, said on the Tuesday, April 21, episode of her āLetās Be Honestā podcast. āI think everyone in politics ā I donāt care what side youāre on ā everyone is corrupt.ā
She continued, āTo get to that level, you have to play their game. Itās all an agenda, and I think their goal is to keep all of us divided. They want us fighting, and thatās why I donāt buy into any of it.ā
