Prince Louis is one year older and still just as adorable.

The youngest of Prince William and Princess Kate's three children is celebrating his 8th birthday on Thursday, April 23, and in royal tradition, the Prince and Princess of Wales honored him with a new portrait, taken by royal photographer Matt Porteous.

"Happy birthday, Louis!" the prince and princess' account captioned the photo, featuring Louis with a gap-toothed smile, wearing a blue quarter-zip sweater and button-up, while on the water during a vacation in Carnwall, England, earlier this month. In last year's portrait, the young royal's two front teeth were missing. His toothy grin and what appears to be a small scar on his face bear the unmistakable look of an 8-year-old.

On April 23, 2026, the Prince and princess of Wales shared a new portrait of the young Prince Louis in honor of his eight birthday. The photo was taken while the family were on vacation in Cornwall earlier this month.

The account also posted a video montage of Louis having fun on the beach, playing cricket and jumping into the sea, likely during a trip to Holkham Beach in Norfolk, England, a spot near their Anmer Hall home and frequented by the royal family.

"Thank you for all the birthday wishes for Prince Louis. 8 is great!" the British royals captioned the reel.

Louis was recently seen out celebrating Easter with his family of five (along with grandfather King Charles III, Queen Camilla and other relatives) in their first Easter church service appearance at St George's Chapel since 2023. There, Louis matched with big brother Prince George in a navy suit and light blue tie.

Prince Louis, who was born in April 2018, is the third child of the Prince and Princess of Wales and fourth in line to the British throne, preceded by Princess Charlotte, 10, Prince George, 12, and, of course, his father, Prince William, 43.

Charlotte will celebrate her 11th birthday in May, while George will officially become a teenager in June.
