Olivia Rodrigo enters new era with new single 'Drop Dead'

The wait is over. Olivia Rodrigo has released a new song!

On Friday, the Grammy winner released her new single "Drop Dead" from her upcoming album, "You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love."

Leading up to the release, Rodrigo teased bits of it on Instagram, including a video of her on what appears to be a train with the words "it's feminine intuition" across the screen.

She also shared a video last week of half-full glasses of Guinness with the words, "i hope you never finish that beer."

Olivia Rodrigo announces 3rd album is on the way

Rodrigo announced her forthcoming album earlier this month on Instagram.

"I am so proud of this record and I can't wait for you to hear it," she wrote at the time.

The album follows Rodrigo's second studio album, "Guts," which was released in September 2023 and features the hit songs, "Vampire," "Bad Idea Right?" and "Get Him Back!"

In May 2021, she released her first studio album "Sour," which earned her several Grammys, including best pop vocal album and best pop solo performance for the track "Drivers License."

The singer recently appeared on the April 2026 cover of British Vogue and spoke to the outlet for an accompanying interview about the new album.

In her interview, she described the album as full of "sad love songs."

"I realised all my favourite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them," she said.

"You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love" is out June 12.
