According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, Kidman listed the couple’s date of separation as the date of filing, and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

Nicole Kidman is all about self-love following her split from Keith Urban.
Five months after PEOPLE confirmed that the former couple, who share two daughters, were separating after 19 years of marriage and Kidman filed for divorce, the actress posted an empowering photo of herself smiling alone in bed, a day before Valentine's Day.
Kidman captioned the post "Happy Galentines 🩷," an ode to the celebration of female friendships, a fictional holiday that originated from the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation.

The photo showed Kidman smiling, eyes closed, as the sun hit her face while she sat on the corner of a bed wearing nothing but a pink oversized sleep shirt.
The photo was met with various responses from fans who said she was "glowing" and wished her an "amazing weekend."
PEOPLE confirmed that Kidman and Urban were separating in September 2025, with a source telling PEOPLE exclusively at the time that "Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another.”

"She didn’t want this," the source continued. "She has been fighting to save the marriage."

Kidman filed for divorce a day after the news broke.
According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, Kidman listed Sept. 30, the couple’s date of separation as the date of filing, and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
Their separation came just three months after their 19th wedding anniversary.
Their last public appearance together occurred in June 2025 at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup match between Los Angeles Football Club and Esperance de Tunis in Nashville.

An insider later told PEOPLE that the two were living separate lives, explaining, "Their lives were moving in different directions, and once he quietly set up his own place, it felt like the writing was on the wall."
