There's nothing like being at a concert where one of your favorite musical artists performs a song they've never played live before...and that's exactly what happened for audience members at a Jeff Tweedy show over the weekend.

The Wilco and Golden Smog frontman kicked off the European leg of the tour supporting his most recent solo album, Twilight Override, on Wednesday, Feb. 11, in Madrid, Spain. Backed by a band including Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart of Finom, James Elkington, Liam Kazar, and his sons Spencer and Sammy Tweedy, the indie rock icon surprised concert-goers during the encore by covering Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls" for the first time ever.

According to Jambands, the evening also featured a selection of songs from four of Tweedy's solo albums as well as favorites from his Tweedy family band's 2014 album Sukierae...but "Fat Bottomed Girls" apparently "stole the show."

Fans commenting on an Instagram video of the song posted by Brooklyn Vegan definitely approved.

"Their joy is infectious!!!! Creativity Eats Darkness!" one person wrote, with a second adding, "This is amazing!!"

"Great cover!" declared someone else.

Wilco is going on tour this spring

Tweedy definitely has a big year ahead. As Wilco announced in an Instagram post last month, the band is hitting the road in April, bringing back their beloved “An Evening With” format (featuring two full sets with an intermission in between).

The post revealed a list of dates, as well, which start on April 23 in Fort Wayne and include stops in locations such as New Orleans and Oklahoma City. Wilco's upcoming jaunt wraps up on May 8 in Albuquerque.
